When Ron Clark started Ron Clark Construction and Design 31 years ago, his focus was on building custom upscale single-family homes. “For the most part, they were a higher price point…that’s where we started,” Clark says. In addition, the company has followed market demands in Minnesota and has made a gradual shift toward building association-maintained homes. Today, Ron Clark Construction and Design builds more association maintained neighborhoods than single-family neighborhoods, says Clark, CEO.
His background in custom building provides him with a unique perspective: “Having the experience on single family homes was a tremendous help to us as we moved into association maintained housing,” he says, allowing the company to approach the latter with a mindset of thoughtful planning. Some examples: well-built homes that have pleasing sightlines; large, ample windows; and quality exterior materials requiring little or no maintenance; and beautiful landscaping are all hallmarks of Clark’s neighborhoods.
Four Ron Clark Construction and Design neighborhoods are active this spring:
Clarion Hills is a secluded Minnetonka neighborhood of townhomes and custom single-family homes a few minutes from Hwy. 62. “That’s been Ron Clark’s trademark over the years,” says Cindy Volkart, president of Ron Clark Construction. “He has this uncanny ability to find tucked-in neighborhoods minutes away from shopping and other community amenities.”
Single-family home prices in Clarion Hills range from $800,000 to $2,000,000.
Willoughby, another Minnetonka neighborhood near I-394 and the Hopkins Crossroad that Volkart says is “a good alternative to living downtown.” Willoughby has 79 townhomes overlooking a picturesque wetland. “You walk in your house and you have no idea that you’re right in the middle of Minnetonka,” Volkart says. Willoughby’s Flats homes offer up to 3,800 square feet of living on one level. Heated underground parking is available at Willoughby Urban Townhomes.
Eagan’s
Pearlmont Heights, near I-35E and Yankee Doodle Road, features 48 twin homes in the mid-$400,000s to $600,000. The neighborhood was honored with a Dakota County Outstanding Conservationist Award for its unique rain gardens, which help trap and filter runoff during rainstorms while providing the neighborhood with eye-catching beauty. Eagan’s plentiful dining and shopping are nearby.
Trout Run Preserve overlooks the Minnesota River valley from a hilltop in Savage, minutes from Hwy. 169. This new neighborhood will have a total of about 300 homes, all association maintained, in a mix of attached and detached townhomes. One of the neighborhood’s unique features is that it caters to a wide group of buyers with home prices between the $180,000s and $700,000. “It doesn’t create a neighborhood of all empty nesters, or all first-time homebuyers,” Clark says. “It’s a nice mix of ages and people.”
Trout Run Preserve has a choice location within minutes of shopping and dining anywhere in the southwestern metro area. Neighborhood amenities include extensive landscaping that includes a waterfall, playground with climbing rock, and walking trails with expansive, panoramic views.
