Tech Tiles
Two Michigan artisan/tilemakers packed up their toys and moved to Minneapolis this summer, and wow, are we glad to have them. Amy Baur and her husband Brian Boldon use a proprietary digital imaging technology to fuse any image—a photograph of a cornflower, your kid’s artwork—to handmade ceramic or glass tiles. “The finished tiles are heat and light resistant, and the image stays in perfect form forever,” says Baur. You could tile your whole bathroom in hand-drawn doodles, but we guarantee you’ll be more inspired by Baur’s originals (left), dreamy collages of antique botanicals and other vintage images.
